Please note, I taught this filly to lay down as a show of trust and as a cute trick only. I do not believe in laying a horse down for any other reason. I do not believe the act of laying a horse down should be used as any type of training aid. Whether it's to establish dominance or for a flood of endorphins, I think there are far better ways to work with a horse. Also note, I used only the halter and rope you see the filly wearing to teach her this. I would NEVER consider tying a horse's legs up or twisting their head around and pulling them over in order to MAKE them lay down a decent or fair method of training.
If you don't have the knowledge and experience to teach your horse something like this without force then you shouldn't be trying to in the first place. This filly is less than one year old and already has enough trust and respect established to allow me to do this with her. If you spend the time to work with your horse, these things can be established very quickly.
One last note, the pinto in the video is my mare, Widlfire. She has no relation to the filly whatsoever. She's only interested because I'm there and she wants my attention.
