Gold Medal match at the 1987 Tbilisi Tournament. Dave Schultz v. Taram Magomadov. Unfortunately match was cut short because the tape ran out towards the middle but you get to see the dramatic finish and Dave congratulated by his team and wife Nancy + awards ceremony. It's a nice clip.

  • I remember Dave and Mark coming by to help us work out while I was in high school and they were driving back from OU to California for Christmas break. They were always willing to share with us at tournaments, workouts, and in passing.

  • Christ Schultz was a fucking beast

  • One bad dude right there!

  • Is that referee Jon Schaus at 2:53?

  • Interesting to see Kenny Monday congratulating Dave after the match because the smae Full Nelson used to win this one was broken as an illegal hold in the Olympic Trials the following year in Pensacola when Leroy Evans was on the whistle.

  • Dave was a great wrestler and a class guy. I had the "misfortune" to wrestle him in my home town of Cleveland, OH in 1976. He was 17 and beat me on my own move! I was 24, & couldn't believe i lost to a high-schooler. His teammates from Calif. consoled me, saying he was the hottest prospect for college. Well, he went on to win many freestyle & Greco championships, 2 NCAA's, & the World & Olympic Games! Was a natural with hip movement & counters, a prodigy for the sport if ever there was one!

  • What a beast!

  • dave was a tough SOB, you can hear the smack at :40 and he just kept pushing forward

  • I miss my brother in law soooo much and always have! Love you forever Dave!

  • one of my favorites.his style made even boring matches fun to watch. the wrestling world will always be missing something without dave....
