Bash for Crash Memorial Presentation compiled and created by Bob Ford.
Dennis Maurice "Crash" Collins born December 7, 1942 - died November 6, 2011. KLOL-101 at the Rice Hotel was the first rock station in Houston to use the free-form format and in 1971 "Crash in your Dash" made history in those early years of vinyl radio by mixing and playing his own show. Many years later the voice that "Kept Houston Between the Ditches" would finally be heard on KZFX 107.5 with Zuki Zuki on "The Bob & Crash Show". Crash was active for over four decades and could be heard on six radio stations...what a ride! KUHF, KLOL (3 separate times!), KILT, KULF, KNUZ and KZFX.
As well as radio, Crash has released a Christmas album; appeared on numerous local TV shows, 101 RockPlace and Crash's Jam; had a long career in the voice talent business; and appeared at many local clubs including The Old Plantation, Bentleys, Yucatan Liquor Stand, Safari Club and Randy's.
Throughout his long career Crash has always been a major fundraiser for other people and other causes. He's been the auctioneer at many, many charity events and golf tournaments, and was declared #1 Volunteer for The University of Texas Children's Hospital.
Happy Trails, old friend, and Keep It Between The Ditches.
