I have the mark II of this lens....it's awesome!

Indoor volleyball comes to mind.... that sport generally requires you to shoot without a mono/tripod.
-
Sports photography needs IS when it's being shot hand-held. There are going to be times where you don't always have the room for a tri/monopod.
-
how much did you buy it?
-
U need the IS to shoot hand holding at events. Or you could use a monopod to help you take steady shot everytime.
-
ur comments lame.

Yeah, me too. But right now I'm trying to find a second-hand seller :D
-
yeah i prefer to keep the $800 in my pocket instead of getting the IS. :)

What do you think about the 70-200mm f4L IS? I read that is more sharp than 70-200mm f2.8L IS,because I`ve been thinking to buy f4L for new CANON EOS 50D couse is almos $400US cheaper than f2.8L gimme your opinion or some of the youtuber.
Thank you.

Hello, yes the IQ is pretty much the same, it's just the F2.8 version is much faster and can be used indoor, depending on your requirement if more on outdoor on daytime then by all means go for it mate and get the IS version, image quality is actually the same per reviews i've read.

f/4L has 3rd generation IS while f/2.8 has 2nd generation. and f/2.8 is a lot bigger and heavier thus you would probably need a tripod with it making IS useless in this case. I'd say go with f/4L with IS which is 400g lighter, and more ideal to be used handheld

thanks mate, i agree F4 version is outstanding lens i owned one as well but non IS too, very handy when trekking where in i won't dare bringing the 2.8... i found IS to be too expensive and can be compensated using tripod and stable hand. but chose between the two still i won't give up the 2.8 for F4 eve you put IS on it. cheers.
