  • This isn't a kata, but surely this is the "I-form". Although today's I-form is a little bit different. Firstly the blocks. Today's blocks initiate with the fist of the blocking arm coming down, from the cheek. And secondly the turns: Today's turns initiate with the rear leg crossing behind the lead and then you pivot the torso. Other than those two differences nothing else has changed.

  • Funakoshi had higher stances. Possibly due to the fact he wasn't tall himself. Nowadays SKA stances are much lower.

  • one thing i find odd is the video is missed up just at the face level, that smells alittle fishy to me.
