Okay, you've got me - this is Pythagorus' theorum.... Really easy though! In a right angled triangle the square of the two smaller sides added together is the same as the square of the diagonal.
Nice tutorial, I looked this up because I saw someone using a lot circles to build an octagon and I laughed because I knew this rule, circles are fine but I could do it in half the time with this rule, good job
