@suzukir6001 I honestly recommend getting it cut BEFORE basic, because if you get it cut AT basic, they'll fucking butcher it. Get it cut to just underneath your earlobes, and they won't even touch it when you get to bootcamp. That's what I did and I was fine.

@suzukir6001 For boot camp, it will have to be cut. The USN, I believe, is the only branch that requires this of women. After boot camp, though, you can wear it in a bun.

@suzukir6001 You will have a chance to go to the NEX at RTC, with your division and RDC's, and you'll be able to purchase a brush and things like that. But I'm not sure they'll let you have gel. RDC's are all different. Some will let you have certain things, but others won't. When I was in basic, my division wasn't allowed to have q-tips, but OTHER divisions were. Don't worry. You'll be just fine =]
