She can't seem to give him what he needs which makes her hurt. Symbolizing her tooth. Once she figures out what she needs to do for him to be satisfied, she feels his love and is not hurting anymore. But once she gives him all she has, he leaves her for someone else but in the same way takes all her pain away yet leaving her half empty.
