This movie preview is dedicated to the Guided Missile Cruiser CG18.

Comissioned 1963
Decomissioned 1993
Sunk 2000

This movie is not as cool as some of the "bodies hit the floor" Marine Videos etc.. which I have enjoyed but, the past crew members of this old warpig will surely enjoy this preview.

It's footage of some of the final journey's of this vessel before it was sunk in 2000 to make a fine coral reef off of the coast of Hawaii.

Lot of circles and alot of good ports along with alot of good times. Both in the Far East and State Side.(Vancouver Canada comes to mind.). I do miss it Just a little bit. Entering and exiting Pearl and dockingat the amunition loading and unloading depot after a long cruise. It was all part of it and it brings back good times..Thanks

  • April 22nd, 30 years ago, 44 Vietnamese Boat People were on board of the Worden CG-18. We were rescued by Dr. Nelson and his Sailors, hosed with water, given clothes, food, basic medical care and transported to Hawkins Refugee Camp in Singapore. Your clip brought back the memory beyond words. I remember the back end where the temporary toilets were set up, the sleeping quarter with folding beds. There is the rail where I showed off my parroting English: My name is Hoa Vu, I am 14 years old, THX

  • I served on board Worden in the early to mid 80'S. 83-88. Lots of great times.

I see some names that I remember. BM1 holzer was a wacko job but a good friend.

Maldives was the best port you could see. Lost a strip in Africa but it was worth it.
