Video shot on 6/27/09 From Front gate - The Ohio Edison Power Company plant in Toronto, Ohio employed thousands of men and women since the early 20th Century. It took m any months to rid the building of asbestos before and demolition or dismantling could begin. Company housing comprised of 40 units was built for employees in 1924.

55 seconds into this video you will see the rubble from the 650 ft. tall stack that was demolished Last year.

My father, Gordon Miller was employed by Ohio Edison for 35 years.

  • I worked at the springfield Ohio Edison plant and it was a great place. It too has met the demolition team and you can type in the plant here and get the smoke stack that fell in the wrong direction...didnt go quite right

  • The Toronto Plant was a gem in its time. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with several of their employees after the plant closed in the mid 90s. Thanks for sharing the vid.
