Hi all, yes another video of the old Petter.....I think I have at last sorted the fuel starvation issue. The fuel tank has been turned through 180 degrees and a shorter fuel line with less of an angle has been fitted.

I have also fitted a pulley to the engine so it is seen here driving a Hardi 603/4 diaphragme pump.

The engine smokes to start with as it is running on two stroke petrol, as the vaporiser warms the oil is vaporised and the smoke clears.

The Petter W1 was a water cooled version of the air cooled Petter A1. This is a more unusual model as it has a Vaporiser (VO) and is thought to be one of five reverse rotation high speed W1VO's ever made.

Enjoy.....

  • nice one phill!! yea i thought it had a diesely sort of knock to it!

  • Yeah it does sound a bit diseasaly....I expect either the big end is not tight or it has too many shims in it....

  • That pump sure works well, goes well with your engine. I like it...

  • Thank you, yes that pump was retreived from a skip, totaly unused. It just had a stripped thread so was chucked. It's probably not even "run in" yet!

The plan with this engine is to pair it with one of the large Metropolitan Vickers 12V dynamos. I have located some 12v bayonet lamps and I will build a "showmans" style genset all under a canopy with lights round the edge.

  • Try make a loop on the fuel line

  • great little engine!

  • I know i am not the only one to say this: good engine for boil eggs

  • Thankfuly it's not the original paint, it's a hidious colour and the engine will be repainted.

This engine would have been the same sort of colour as my Wolseley is now.
