  • great film and great acting my nick nolte.i have been a nolte fan since i saw him in the rich man -poor man mini series.this film has a cool plot and they chose the of my favorite groups for the sound track in C.C.R. the gun battle at night with the song hey tonite blasting was just awesome.

  • Excellent movie. Does anyone know the name for the style of martial arts practiced by Nolte in the film?

  • @swastikausa You may be right about that,I read the Robert Stone book long ago,I'll try to find it and see what's there as far as the movie goes,I DO remember that DANSKIN (Richard Masur)in the book was a BRONX psychotic who cracked some guy named "Brucie" in the head with a pipe who he saw with a girl he liked at The Lowes Emporium movie theatre....TRUE to the movie character, that's for certain!

  • its more likely converse was in vietnam as a civilian journalist and struck up a friendship with hicks who was in uniform.

  • great film, great book,

  • One of the BEST Films, but something isn't clear to me. Hicks and Converse were Marines in Vietnam and NOW are both there again as civilians...Hicks as a merchant

seaman and Converse as what....A Journalist...seems TOO coinicidental AND running Dope on a regular Basis, and Converse sends a letter to Marge which sounds MORE like he's there AS a G.I. and why send the letter when he's leaving the next day for the States anyway, did I miss something?

  • @GREAT it's about time this Terrific piece found it's way here!

  • @jhe3Vulrik. thank you for that. I never knew that to be the case! Seems like most of the stuff I like might only be available on region 2.

  • @pkotowski Region 2 media is Europe, the Middle East, Japan and other countries. VHS and DVD's are region specific, say a Region 1 (US) dvd will only play in a DVD player that is coded Region 1, but there are region free players out there also.

  • @Banner1979 region 2? what is that?
