More pictures being shown to the camera, the first one is a picture of what was then called in the mid 80s (picture taken then), "The Odeon!, older viewers however will remember it as the Gaumont. Carl recalls some of the people he saw and indeed worked with there, names come up such as Buddy Holly , Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Everly Brothers and of course a band called the Beatles. Going on to comment on the allowed decline of the building, whilst at the same time stearing clear of the politics concerning the issue (after all enough's been written about it), but does mention Councillor John Pennington who for quite sometime (even before he became a Councillor) has been active in heading up the group (BRADFORD ODEON RESCUE GROUP - BORG) set up for the saving of this fine Bradford Historical Landmark. This is where Carl get hijacked by me! The second picture is taken in the mid 80s, winter time of Manchester Road, which just happens to be just around the corner of the Gresh's former house. The address was Runswick Grove and here Carl goes on to tell of the many celebrities that used to visit him there. So many in fact that they called it "Celebrity Grove" Cueing up a record Carl get s back to me and talk about those days.PRO AM, the processing and printing side of Bradford Camera Exchange get a mention for the fine work they did on the pictures and a special mention to Stephan for rushing them through in a couple of hours on Thursday 4th November. Thanks! Again more pictures shown by me, not much point in bringing them on the show if I was not going to talk about them, Record playing to the radio audience were The Ventures "Perfidia and Gerry and The Pacemakers, Ferry Across the Mersey. and the Young Idea's cover of a A Little Help From My Friends. Right there's a plug for the artistes, now back to the site. Her I mention pictures I took two weeks previously on Sunday whilst taking John Pell home after filming, Frazer and Carl on the show. The Bradford Monk as he seems to be locally known was walking towards the city centre whilst on my way up King's Rd, So on dropping John off,I drove back down , stopped and asked him if I could take some pictures. Have a look on the website bradfordeye.co.uk on the Bradford Mixed Bag gallery.
