@tropicsgoddess That does make perfect sense.

@HistoryLover1550 Not really, because Anne Boleyn was a Protestant and the reformation was at it's peak before and after the birth of Elizabeth. Jane Seymour was a Catholic but her brother Edward (the Lord Protector) was a Protestant and was responsible for appointing those who nurtured the upbringing of Prince Edward. Edward had a lot of influence and power and hence why the King didn't do a thing about his son being bought up a Protestant (as opposed to an Anglican).

@vivelhistoire Anne Askew. She was burned for heresy. She preached on how transbutination (the bread being the body of Christ) was a crock among other things that constituted heresy at the time. Commoners were hung while the wealthy were beheaded, heretics were burned. The traitors (those that committed high treason) were the ones that had the worst execution possible: hanging, disembowelment (drawing) and quartering.

@TheFooob Historically he was known for aligning himself with the King's policies with in terms of religion, same with Sir Francis Bryan. Though with Sir Francis Bryan, he was known to be a real cad and known as "The Vicar from Hell".

@samsmith92samsmith Aside from Mary and Catherine not accepting the Church of England, it was also not recognizing Anne Boleyn as Queen of England. Katherine saw her self, as did her daughter Mary as the rightful Queen of England and wife of Henry VIII. Other countries and the Vatican held the same sentiment about Katherine of Aragon still being the rightful and legitimate wife of Henry VIII and Queen of England.

@QueenAnneBoleyn1536 Mary was Catholic, she hated Protestants because of Anne Boleyn, so when she became queen she killed the protestants, Henry destroyed Catholic things because of the whole divorce thing, but Henry didn't burn them at the stake like she did.he burnt their books etc...hope this helped :) x

one question...why did they burn protestants..?
when Anne was Queen and she was a protestant didn't Hnery accept them...
forgive me if I am saying silly things.
-
@TheFooob And yet he survived and served to four English monarchs... Such a thing in England that time is almoust a miracle...
-
@LeahWalentosky It wasn't Mary's lack of understanding of 'divorce' that made her hate Protestantism.
Because neither Mary nor her mother Catherine would accept the Church of England, they were separated. Catherine and Mary were separated. As her mother fell ill, Mary was prevented from seeing her, she was ill-treated by Anne Boleyn and even bullied by her father. As her mother died slowly of cancer, Mary will still kept from her mother.
Elizabeth and Edward had it comparatively good.

@galwguitar87 He was, he became a Protestant to divorce Mary's mother, Mary was little at that time and didn't understand divorce, to her Protestantism distroyed her family. Henry screwed up all his kids
this show should have gone on so much longer. it could have even technically gone past elizabeth since james 1 was descended from henry 7, henry 8 father. really it should have started with henry 7 claiming the throne.

@rebelalliance501 I'm waiting for someone to produce a TV series on the Plantagenets, like the War of the Roses. It would be really interesting to see the conflicts between the Houses of Lancaster and York. Try reading Philippa Gregory's The Cousins' War series... It's fanastic!!!
