Rethread a skateboard axle very easily using a die.
A damaged truck axle is caused from skating by hitting the axle on the ground. The threads get destroyed. Removing the axle nut will also destroy the threads in the nut, and may cause more damage to the axle. Replace any damaged alxe nut. A little bit of damage to the axle can be fixed
with a file. Most of the time the axle threads need to be reshaped with a die. The die size is 5/16-24. 24, meaning fine threads. Avoid 5/16-18 and 5/16-32. I recommend the Reflex Utili-Tool, because it has all the other tools you need for a skateboard, and is about the same price as a die from a hardware store, or on eBay.

If you have any questions regarding skateboard equipment I am here to answer them completely.

  • Know any companies that sell nuts? Anyway my nut goes really tight then loose then tight and loose when I tighten my nut (I was installing bearings using axle method) so do I need to re thread the axle or just a new nut?

  • @XxGreatestGrafficzxX Go to a hardware store and get nuts. 5/16th-24 nylon lock nut.

  • @skateboardtech So do i need to re thread the axle? or just new bolts

  • @XxGreatestGrafficzxX New nuts is probably all you need. The old nuts went on so there shouldn't be a problem with the axle threads.

  • @skateboardtech thank you very much, i think your videos are REALLY helpful, way better than expert village. I'll tell my mates to sub to this channel!

  • @XxGreatestGrafficzxX Thanks. I'll be posted more videos soon.

  • U should do a review on the element flat bar

  • @MegaJailbreaker1 Wow that's dangerous. You need new nuts. The more you take the nuts off the sooner they need to be replaced. I can't tell you what skate deck to use. It's almost like telling you what food to eat. Skate whatever you want.

  • my nut comes off when i skate and my wheels go flying out and now idk how to fix that and also, can you tell me what skate deck to use?

  • @bboyXxESMERKZZxX Yes, if you got it from it skate shop it will be the correct size.
