Soccer speed is an extremely important component when it comes to on-field soccer performance. And the biggest misconeption today when it comes to soccer speed is that it should involve 60-100 yard sprints.
To improve soccer speed, you need to work on your starting speed and acceleration mainly at distances from 0-15 meters.
The first few meters are the most critical when it comes to soccer speed, don't forget that.
And last but not least, don't forget to work on your soccer speed from different positions, not only from a "facing-forward" position.
The last exercise in this video is a great example of a true soccer specific speed exercise!
