Clay was The Peoples choice then and he still is nearly 7 years later.

i'm amazed he had to win the wildcard vote to make it into the finals - the judges should have put him through - but i guess they had their reasons ('don't look like a pop star'?) but it must have really boosted his confidence to win a vote by the people even before the final competition began. clay has the best voice of all AI contestants, IMO.

I belive Clay was the only wildcard that was more interested in winning and singing professtionally in this group. How much you want to bet all the other contestants were more concerned about making it back to to their karaoke gig to promote what could have been? Haha!

I never understood wildcard. You come back after you have been told you are not good enough only to be told once again you are not good enough except for one. I am glad the shows producers stopped using the losing contestants like this. I guess they just wanted ratings.

Clay was definately one of the most memorable AI contetants... and one of the best along with Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

This is when AI was better when they had people like Clay and Kelly Clarkson now AI is well I wont go there.
