Can you help me? I have been trying to make a doily. I can make the first nine rings with chains beneath, then split ring to the next row. When I make the next row of rings around the first, they aren't letting the doily lay flat. I need to know how to increase that row without messing up the pattern. Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
i still don't get it right.... and i've been doing it for seven hours... please, god.... *laugh* i only get a ring but i get it only by pulling a wrong thread....
Always pull the shuttle thread taut first, then pull the other thread to a gentle knot. If you do this each time, it shouldn't tangle. Every few stitches, slide the stitches to make sure it is still right.
I bought a shuttle 15 or so years ago along with a book. The book was confusing and I decided to wait. Now I can do the stitches but when I pull the shuttle thread to close, all I get is a knotted mess. (so, I'm stupid) I guess I'll just go back to crocheting and knitting.
Finally! I am totally thrilled that you made this video...I bought all that I needed to start tatting, not realizing that very few ppl ALIVE know how to do it...I even asked all the retired women I worked with at "assisted living" but none of them could help they all did crocheting(which I love!) or knitting...even though most of the women are in there 70's or 80's. Sooooo THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!VERY MUCH ...Your going to be saved to my FAVORITES!!

sassy speaks true, not many know how. u would be hard pressed to begin a tatting club.u would have to teach em first.
