but, constant pain does shape misery, yes...

however, it is difficult to ponder this and to find this truth when you are in constant pain.

it seems selfish that some organisms could attain such a life where the pain is minimal and easily seen as just an obstacle and not a dead end.

i use pain and misery loosely.
