Grady Atwater, Site Administrator of the John Brown Museum in Osawatomie, Kansas gives some history behind President Barack Obama's planned visit to Osawatomie, Kansas on Dec. 6, 2011. Some speculate Obama's visit has historical connections to the "New Nationalism" speech given by Theordore Roosevelt in Aug. 1910 (about 18 months after he left office). Roosevelt was in Osawatomie to dedicate the John Brown Memorial Park, which was an event attended by about 30,000. • @archienc45 LOL Thanks Arch I try not to impose my will on others, & will never pretend to have more answers then questions on matters that deserve open debate based on facts, & relevant history unlike idealogues of the day.

    Cheers!

  • @joe035 Joe, the term "idealogues" is an uncommon term used by ignorant people....I have already found that you are not even close to being a true "idealogue"

    Best,

    Arch/Jon

  • @joe035 Joe...my email is archienc at me dot com

I would like to "vist" with you without having to login to youtube all the time.

If that does not work for you...no problem.

    best,

    Jon (my real name)

  • @archienc45 Arch that isn't entirely true. There are & always will be those idealogues who think they know what is best for everyone else as if they have a single solution for everyone.. It's human nature, we are all imperfect the founders knew this & created the most complicated form of govt to protect us from it.

Obama to justify his stimulus said he wanted to emulate FDR's New Deal as if it ended the last Depression. Bush said Capitalism failed when it was govt intervention that created it!

  • @archienc45 I have friends with 2 degrees who are unemployed Arch. To many people going into fields with low demand. I dated a girl who worked on a degree in greek mythology!

I love American history & believe a good understanding of the past is essential for bad history not repeating itself. This is why the Constitution is so important & the difficult process to amend it. I agree we are all Gods creation he will judge us individually.I dont cling to the past I learn from it unlike many in gov.

  • @joe035 Joe...We humans ALWAYS look to history for possible solutions.Certainly you already knew that? None of us want to make the same mistakes we have made in the past. My ancestory goes back to the 1500's...so far. Levi and Colin came here in 1710 from Scotland & relatives fought on both sides of the Civil War. The idea of "Hope" and "Faith" is all we have. Education is a close 2nd. Educate your kids Joe! Let them see ALL sides & then free them to decide. I did & it worked well.

  • @archienc45 My brother in laws grandfather came by horseback to Oregon from Oklahoma by himself during the last Depression. He knew hunger & made the most of every opportunity, unlike generations of today.

There are some great lessons to be learned from the past. I like the founders would never look to Europe for solutions. "It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world." Tom Jefferson

  • @joe035 English IS the world language Joe. So, I will encourage you to get your kids interested in Global events & understand them well. It is critical for kids in OR to be curious about ALL things that are happening in the world.Clinging to the past & not understanding we are ALL God's people is foolish & will force your kids to work for min. wages. If education is bad in OR, encourage them to change it by focusing on what the NEW technology will be. NEW ideas are the keys to R future.

  • @joe035 I've been reading a book about the Great Dust Storm of the 1930's & the hopeless conditions those folks survived in..undone by man's plundering of the southern & northern plains & blindness to what plowing up billions of acres would eventually do to the earth. Day after day of wind and dust so severe that people, plants & animals died. Somehow, we Americans, who came mostly from European nations, figured out how to survive. We ALWAYS find a way to reinvent ourselves Joe! ~Arch
