The Fauves 20th Anniversary Show @ The Espy 22/11/08

It is always worth seeing The Fauves live. If not just for their awesome songs, stage presence and banter but because you never know what may happen. Anyone that's seen them will attest to this. In the past, Coxy has been accosted by drunkards yelling for him to play guitar with a five cent piece (no encore that night) and there are often numerous equipment malfunctions. One time, a drunk in a pink feather boa jumped on stage and started singing into the mic and dancing, which was met with an hilariously vitriolic rant via Coxy that resulted in the classic "get off the stage you fuckstain" line. Hell, it could have been wankstain. This is off the top of my head. All I'm saying is, more than any other band I've ever seen live, you are watching real people onstage. You're watching a band of brothers that have gritted their teeth and survived through all the bullshit for 20 years (except Ted who joined later, for he was only 8 when The Fauves first started). In Today's installment of Fauves Live, Ted needs to take a piss through most of the set which makes Coxy angrier than all fuck. You can hear a bit of the anger in his voice on this song. I'm sure that was just the straw that broke the camel's back though. Even at their own anniversary show, Doug had to play drums on the floor like a dog because the "proper" band after them had their drumkit already set up and underneath a white sheet behind them. I love The Fauves. p.s. The song being played is "Smoking Again" off their self-titled release.
