No, you can't play a 720p video if the screen hasn't got the resolution required. 720p means HD resolution, if it doesn't have HD res on the screen than it's not playing HD video, aka 720p.

then why do you think Samsung Calls it the "HD player" ? and yes it can play 720p. the resolution "640 x 360" is resolution of the symbian menu and the wallpaper. doesent mean it doesent play 720p video - -
