It has been noted by scholars that all the outside attention can even have a positive effect on Amish society, strengthening the Amish sense of identity. Visitors marvel at Amish ways and may by their questions point out favorable aspects of Amish society that Amish might take for granted. In this way Amish may gain a greater appreciation for their own way of living.

I wish I could remember it was a road side restaurant on the way to Lancaster County. In do recommend The Family Cupboard(at the end of the video) The food was very good!!

Hey, I didn't read far enough back to know if it was said but to you tourists don't film, take photos or likewise of the Amish or Mennonite. Against religion and STRONGLY frowned upon.

My family is from Pennsylvania, they have lived there since 1858, so I really dont consider myself a tourist. I was kind enough to not show any faces of the Amish I filmed. The women on the porch at the beginning of the video was on premises of Amish Village a tourist attraction and was only dressing the part.
