Michael Savage BBC Interview on UK Ban - "I was Shocked and Angered"

May 6, 2009 - US radio presenter Michael Savage, who has been placed on a list of people banned from entering the UK, describes himself as an "explosive conservative radio talk show host".

A so-called "shock jock", Savage hosts a nationally-syndicated right-wing talk show, The Savage Nation, reaching an estimated eight million US listeners a week.

That makes Savage - real name Michael Alan Weiner - the third most popular radio host in the US.

Savage's self-described "brash commentary and unapologetic solutions" are carried across US airwaves by hundreds of radio channels from his home station, KNEW in San Francisco.

I reside in the UK and would open with welcome arms - this individual. So refreshing to see somebody speak their mind without any regard to the offence he causes.

I am all for free speech - provided it does not lead to violence. We can't have it all ways people. You either love freedom of speech or you don't. There can be no middle ground.

@bigfootuk82 Me too! I lived in SF for a few years and loved listening to him, such an original man, full of ideas. Now back in London, I get my Savage fix every day on various US podcasts. Gave up the booze, but cannot give up Savage!

My take is that he would be welcomed with open arms by many in the UK. But I think the ban was more of a US request to try and damage him. Keep it up Savage!
