Almost 250 years ago, a frightening creature lurking at the foot of the French Alps is said to have killed more than 300 people. The creature has become known as the Beast of Gevaudan.

Daniel and Natalie step back in time to 18th century France where they visit the killing ground of this mysterious historical monster. Countless theories hang over the Beast's identity. In a hunt for the truth, the Animal X - Natural Mystery Unit talks with descendants of the Beast's victims, local historians and animal experts. As they trace the myth through historical documents and official royal records dating back to the 1760s, they come across startling evidence about the true identity of this voracious killer.

Some say the beast was a wolf, others claim it was an exotic animal imported from a far away country. Was this really the work of a rogue animal with a taste for human blood or was a serial killer involved in this horrific killing spree?
The Animal X - Natural Mystery Unit piece together the evidence in this fascinating investigation. Will they solve the mystery that has puzzled generations?

  • It was me. I am a werewolf, but now I am not killing any more because I became vegetarian. Peasants give me farts.

  • I think the beast couldve been a cross breed of a wolf and a large breed of dog maybe someone was trying to breed a new breed of dog and it went wrong and ended up becoming a mistake or maybe they want to get the kings attention, think about it, the religon, the poor economy, and the locals despising the king. Maybe the beast had a master and it was trained to kill and had a pleasure to kill, cause like any canine, you can train it to do anything......even kill

  • what they describe body and size wise is very much like Mesonychids

  • Of course the wolves ran away when they smelled Daniel's scent! They're scared of people, and probably only come into close contact with them to take their sheep in the first place because they don't have enough prey in the wild. I personally think the beast was some kind of hyena or a hybrid of some sort, not a wolf. People are only blaming them because they're prejudiced against them, and it's not fair, the wolves are only trying to survive =(.

  • @Creaturelover18

Weird, because the Andrewsarchus was a meat-eating ungulate,it had hooves.and was actually related to modern goats.

  • @Aluenvey yah think! wolves are fluffie deadly cute nobel little balls a fluff

  • @fansdesofia just like my best friend she is a were wolf but the fluffeh kind, her boy friend is a ninja elf and her best friend is a were puma

  • @karashin18 you have a really big point there!!! :D

  • @karashin18 Well, by the statues and paintings of the beasts of geuvadan, they look more like an Andrewsarchus, a prehistoric cross between panther and dog. It has all of the characteristics: A big exagerrated wolf-head, a cat like tail, and even the scale is identical.

  • I want a dog that big! Name it fluffy!~ (:

  • @fansdesofia yeah and i'm dracula on a non-liquid diet
