Trichy Shri Sankaran demonstrates the "Splendour of tiSram and khaNDam" in his lecture-demonstration at the Music Academy, Chennai on December 20, 2008 during the morning session.

Here, Sankaran sir starts off brilliantly with the phrase "tham,,tham tham thangu tham" in khaNDa naDai, as his guru Pazhani Shri Subramani Pillai did (Adi tALam), then he demonstrates high-speed pharans in khaNDa. He then demonstrates how the same phrase if done thrice in tisra naDai can be used as a starting point for tiSra naDai in Adi tALam. Sankaran sir then wraps up with a novel way of playing khaNDa nadai in "kIzh kAlam" for Adi tALam. Needless to say, the audience is spellbound.

Many dignitaries were in attendance including Vellore Shri Ramabhadran, Shri S.R. Janakiraman, Shri TK Govinda Rao, and Shri MS Gopalakrishnan (see in the foreground of the video).
