Freescale talk about their latest products including ARM Cortex-A8 processor-based i.MX51 processor going into the latest netbooks from Pegatron. Expected to be the super cool / super cheap netbook capable of running 720p video.

  • In the wikipedia article about Adobe Flash, they say Adobe is planning to release an ARM optimized version of Flash Player.

  • ARM based netbooks could be epic...ARM processors would significantly cut the costs of the machine, and lower the power draw. Imagine a day when you can pick up a netbook for 100 bucks! I sure wouldnt mind that, even if they performed worse than the Atom or the Nano.

    The only downside is that ARM=/=x86, so you cant run most normal programs.

  • @Givarius Genesi sells them now with i.MX51 for $199, even cheaper i.MX53 ones are coming next month

  • nope, in the iPhone 3GS is also a Cortex A8, but its an ather SoC, the iPhone got less power.
