Chapter 12

Nick's pov

I follow as Katie jumps up and runs upstairs, stoping when her door is slammed in my face. I knock.

- Kates?
Katie: G-go away N-Nick.
- No.

I open the door and see her sitting on her bed, hugging her Pebbles Doll. I smile and sit next to her, pulling her into my arms.

- Kates, Kev didn't mean it. He was just having an idiot moment. He tends to have those a lot.

She lightly smiles and smacks my chest.

- See, there's my favortie smile.

She smiles and kisses me, I kiss her back.

Katie: How do you always know exactly what to say to make me feel better?
- I'm just that good.

She giggles and I kiss her cheek.

- So, do you want me to talk to Kevin with you?
Katie: No. Actually don't tell him at all.
- What?
Katie: I want him to figure it out, that is if he even does figure it out.
- Kates-
Katie: Nick he said he was finally gonna have a kid. Finally be a Dad.
- Katie you know you're his daughter.
Katie: Not anymore apparently.
- Kat-
Katie: Please Nick.
- *sighs* Fine.
Katie: Thank you.

She kisses my cheek and lays her head on my shoulder. I kiss her head. We stay like that for a while on her bed, until her door opens.

Katie's pov

Kevin: Why the hell is this door closed? And why is Nick here when no one else is home?
- *rolls eyes* Because I asked him to be here.
Kevin: Kathleen, you know the rules. Bedroom door stays open and no boys over when we're not home. I don't care if he's my brother or not.
- Whatever.
Kevin: Katie-
- Can we please just get back to our privacy Kevin?

Kevin's pov

That last faze cut through me like a knife. She hasn't called me Kevin since she started calling me Dad last summer. I nod and walk out going down stairs to see Dani sitting in the kitchen.

- She called me Kevin.
Dani: Who did?
- Katie. She called me Kevin. She never calls me Kevin.
Dani: Oh Kev, did something happen?
- Not that I know of.
Dani: Maybe she didn't realize she said it.
- How can you not realize that you called your Dad by his first name?
Dani: I don't know, why don't you ask her when Nick leaves.
- Good luck on that one. The way they're holding on to each other I'll be surprised if he ever leaves.

She laughs and continues looking through her piles of papers.

Dani: They're definatly back together.
- Yeah, just great. My baby girl with her boyfriend all over her.
Dani: Yes, but her boyfriend happening to be your brother, so you know you have to trust him.
- UGH! why did she have to fall for my brother, why couldn't she fall for some random guy, that way I could kick his ass when he gets out of line.
Dani: *rolls eyes* Kevin relax.
- *sighs* I'm sorry, I'm just so wound up over that whole Kevin thing. I can't believe she didn't call me Dad.
Dani: Just talk to her tonight. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding.
- I hope you're right.

Nick's pov

Kevin walks out, the hurt building in his eyes, Katie looks away to avoid seeing it. When he's gone I sigh and wrap my arm tighter around her.

- Kates, I'm positive he didn't mean it. You know you are a daughter to him.
Kevin: I'm not so sure anymore.

Katie's pov

He tightens his grip around me and kisses my cheek, I lay my head on his shoulder and curl up with him.

......

The next day I come home from school and see Kevin sitting in the livingroom.

Kevin: Hey Baby Doll.
- Hi.
Kevin: How was your day pumpkin?
- Fine.
Kevin: Just fine?
- Yes Kevin, I have homework to do.

I go upstairs ignoring the hurt look on his face as I do. After hours my door is pushed open, I look up and see Mike standing there.

Mike: Hey Pebbles.
- Hey Mikey.
Mike: Do you have a minute?
- Yeah, sure.

I put down my bio book and push it to the other side of my bed, he sits next to be, puting his arm around me.

Mike: Pebbles you know how my band's new album has been really taking off?
- Yeah?
Mike: We'll we were signed to a label and they want us to go and record our new album in their studio.
- Oh my gosh! Mike that's amazing! Congradulations!

I hug him tight and he hugs me back.

Mike: Thanks Baby. But there's something else.
- What?
Mike: Pebbles, *sighs* the studio's in L.A.
