Tom Snyder maybe. Zack Snyder makes his movies dark. Which is a good and bad thing. Good in that its visually stimulating. Bad in that the stories tend to get lost in the shuffle. The story should always come first. I mean you can always dress up a meal but nobody is gonna wanna eat something that's left uncooked. Even sushi is "cooked" in citrus first. o.o The idea that its like The Seven Samurai to me sounds redundant. That's what the Old Republic Jedi were in the prequels. And they all died!

The original Star Wars is based in part on Akira Kurosawa's samurai film, The Hidden Fortress. The Seven Samurai is another film by Akira Kurosawa that could be considered a companion piece to Hidden Fortress. They're probably deep in creating the formula to episode VII. Disney has been smart in creating formulaic epic films before. In the 90's they did Aladdin and The Lion King based on the hero structure of Joseph Campbell's The Hero With a Thousand Faces.

I'm skeptical about his ability to make a good star wars movie. He can make a good action movie but a good star wars movie has to be more than just action and cool visuals.
