I completely agree with you, thank you. My father and I have seen it three times over, and are definately figuring out more of the plot, and what everything means. It is a true work of art, and a masterpiece.
Thanks Michael. I believe 'No Country' is one of those movies that requires repeated viewing and honest thought. I've watched it maybe a dozen times and every time I see it I discover something new. It should have won best picture. Not that 'Slumdog' wasn't good but 'No Country' is cinematic perfection.
You cut the clip too early. I think the ticking clock after the picture fades to black is essential. Ed Tom is facing his own mortality and the dream of his father "going on ahead" carrying fire is a reference to the passing of generations. The ticking clock reinforces the the message. As Ed Tom's Uncle tells him earlier in the movie "You can't stop what's coming".
