Dude! I'm amazed you say that! I'm not going to criticize your opinion, but could you suggest something you reckon is good? I just want to know - if that's bad, what's good?

Yet another trombone player that I've never heard of until now and yet will be playing catch up to the rest of my life...
Beautiful playing.

Jeff was a musical hero of mine back in high school. When I was a H.S. senior in 1975 there was a concert in Seattle that had many of the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Jazz Bands performing. Jeff performed a solo piece that was I think arranged for him, Kermit the Frog's "Being Green." When I heard that performance , I was just floored. At that moment, I realized I was in the presence of greatness. (Fortunately, I still have in my LP collection the recording that was made that evening).

I played this song and this solo! I sucked! YAYYYYY!

I've got that cut by Kenton with Bill Uusitalo. Jesus I miss those big bands. I'm happy that there are still some left pumping out the brass.

Scotland-Beautiful country! Thanks for the note. Didn't get enough footage to put together a dvd. Too bad, it was a good show. I am also a Uusitalo fan. Great player and pal who is not nearly recorded enough. Has 2 long features on "Beautiful Bones" as does Bill Watrous (Shadow of Yer Smile)Jeff also has solo spots on "Barduhn" and Valerie Day's "I'm Beginning to See the Light". If you're a Kenton fan you might also recognize Michael Bard. Keep in touch, Jack

This concert was in November when Bill was about on his death bed. He made the decision that week that he couldn't make the trip. He sounds great on the cd. His solo on Shadow of You Smile is so Watrousesque; great ballad playing and ends the solo typical (for him) improv. Uusitalo's solo on The Horns of Jericho is just crazy studendous. Obviously I am biased. You can hear some of this at cdbaby. Thanks again for the comments.
