I spent 3 months with the O'Neals and can tell you that Ryan put both Tatum and Griffin through hell. Give them both a big pass on the bad choices they have made because it really isn't their fault. She is a very sweet person and so is he. I only wish they had two decent parents to bring them up.

@TriviaGeek463 We both know the road Tatum has walked down. I tried to act like everything was ok with my own father until he did one thing too many and then I didn't speak to him for 25 years. He apologized shortly before he passed away...but one week later was an ass again. We can not change people, they are who they are. I just really feel for Tatum. She has a sweet nature and I wonder who she would have become without all the early trauma.

@Tones4me1 Thank you for responding further...I just saw this now. I find their relationship and experiences fascinating. W/o saying too much...one of my parents is like Ryan. They are still in my life...I GET EXACTLY what you said.

@TriviaGeek463 Ryan is the best and worst of people. He can make up feel like the sun just came up for you or that you crawled out from under the nearest rock. I can see why Tatum is emotionally confused where he is concerned. But to cut him off is a no win situation. At the same time she can't let Ryan be mean to her children, she is still mending fences with them.

@TriviaGeek463 I've been so out front about defending her that I hesitate to say where I met them but will say he was filming and she was with him for the month. Griff came to stay but got on Ryan's nerves so he sent him packing. People make comments that she should grow up and move on. Move on to what? Her mother is gone, Farrah was ok but never a mother to her, who does she have besides her kids but it will take years to really prove herself to them. Even her dog died.

Hi, I would love to hear more about your time spent with them? I watched all eps of series, just finished the first book and I absolutely agree with you. This was their upbringing...I don't believe she is blaming...she is merely writing about her life. Thats all. NO 5 or 6 year olds should have to fend for themselves, the situations her and Griff were in were HORRENDOUS. PERIOD...

Tatum is behaving like someone who has not dealt with her traumas and it is all her parents fault. They were both very incompetent & irresponsilbe parents. Too bad they weren't sterilized before they had any children. Trauma cannot let be go anymore than you can let cancer go. It has to be treated by a professional, instead of writing books & going on talk shows. These people are only making money off her pain.
