  • How do you make conky appear only on the background? Its always in a seperate window in my awesome WM and is tiled as every other window.

By the way, im on a only keyboard trip too and i have to admit that its really fast. Even browsing is no problem with firefox + vimperator

  • own_window no

    double_buffer yes

own_window_transparent yes #Useless with no own windows, but may help if you play with options sthat will enable own_windows anyway.

in the part before TEXT should work, do not use options like own_window_type, they will force the windows to appear. The downside is that you will lose ability to enable compositing in awesome.

  • Very cool indeed... Could you let us know all the dzen2 scripts you used in your demo and maybe post your awesome config?

  • I just did

  • is there anyway i could get you to help me with my awesome set up i've decided to leave the gnome xfce world and try out a lightweight wm and id like something very similar to what you have

  • Sure! send me an email to elv1313 (._-@_..,T) gmail (dot ,) com

  • maybe they're using all that text for something practical lol.

  • You do realize the screens brightness has next to nothing to do with the brightness of the capture devices recording, right? Although you are correct, most monitors have a calibration detrimental to picture quality out of the box.

  • @autonomous2010 Yes, I'm just that guy.

Recently with bootstaping and installing xfce it took about 18 hours on a athon 64 2800 (1 core 1.6 GHz). On a new system you can get it done in a couple of hours.

  • @WorBlux Wow such an old comment replied to. Hm..

I used the words "days/weeks" because honestly I couldn't remember exactly (nor did I count...) how many days it took. At the time of posting that comment though I had an early model P4 desktop.

As of a month ago, I have a new high end gaming laptop that costed me an arm and a leg. :-)

  • @autonomous2010

Weeks? What do you have an 8086?

One place that anyone most people can benefit from compiling is with audio/video application where sse2/3 instructions sets are used to improve performance for quite a few on the available codecs.

  • Why is it every time I click on the desktop the conky display vanishes?

  • I need to emerge that OMG !

  • really cool! NOT

  • awesome3 is v. nice.

  • I CAME

  • @Elv1313 Yeah, even though I heard that a lot, it took me a while to realize how true it was.

That's what windows will do to yah

  • no me sirve,
