  • I love this punky version. First found it on one of those '60s punk comps that came out in the early '80s. The first version I heard was by '60s Australian slide guitar virtuoso Rob E G. - a true classic. Recently I was amazed to discover that Herman's Hermits (?) did a version that rocks damn near as good as this one. I did some research and found that it was written by the American songwriter Wayne Shanklin. Many famous mainstream artists have recorded it but this is still my favorite.

  • @songsamsung oh really wow, ive heard this and the mummies version which i also quite liked. thank you for the info it is much appreciated. might have to check out some of the other versions u mentioned at some point
