Here is a rare piece of footage from Thunderbirds Are Go!, the 1966 feature film. Its an outtake of the map sequence which shows the crash course of Zero-X in the first part of the film. Instead of Glenn Field, it has Glenfield on the map. This version was cut & a new one was done to replace it.

Only 66 frames survive on the strip of film, which was found amongst some old film cans. It was bent, twisted & scratched by the time it got to me. Using photoshop, I have restored the key frames & managed to reconstruct the missing ones to make it viewable once again. This is probably the only surviving outtake from Thunderbirds to exist!

  • A very nice and interesting video (love the soundscore). I'm glad you took the effort to restore this outtake. The film is still one of my childhood favourites, so you're work is really appreciated!

  • Thank you. It was a little time consuming, but it was something I was interested in having a go at. I even surprised myself by using Windows Movie Maker to animate it!

  • I'm amazed and impressed at the trouble you have gone to to do this. I wonder how many more gems are lying around unknown or (horror of horrors) have already been destroyed?

  • Thank you, it was a fun project to do. It would be amazing if some outtake footage or original rushes showed up from the puppet stages one day.

  • Fascinating MrJim - nice work!

  • Thanks :)

  • Thanks you. i enjoy out takes of most kinds as they often give in sight into the intention of the product and into what the makers were thinking. Also, they can provide a big laugh...

  • @Surgery Thanks. The music is the Zero-X Theme by Barry Gray. Its the TV21 themes EP version.

  • i never knew that! thanks.i'll look that up on my dvd.

  • Extraordinary work! Congratulations!

  • a real outtake would be lady p's dress falling off or one of the Tracy brothers coming apart in mid-function! Now that's entertainment.

  • Mmm, interesting. Are there any other bits of surviving film from Thunderbirds Are Go? I noticed the DVD had some production photos of whole deleted scenes.

  • Great work!!
