On October 22nd, 2009 Alice and myself took the Valley Railroad's Essex Steam Train and Riverboat Cruise out of Essex CT. After a leisurely steam train ride we boarded an excursion boat for a cruise on the lower Connecticut River in the towns of Chester, Deep River, and Hadlyme. The weather was comfortable with a nice autumn briskness and the scenery was beautiful. All in all, it was a nice day for a train ride and cruise and a fitting end to summer.
