During the political battle over Arizona's immigration laws last year, Ernesto Yerena led a visual charge for illegal immigrants' rights. He made a name for himself with striking and simple protest posters that marchers hoisted at many rallies.
Yerena grew up in El Centro and learned the rudiments of artmaking from his father before he served an apprenticeship with Shepard Fairey, the man behind the iconic Obama Hope poster.
