  • She able to play with the children of one of the scientists the night before the launch. Dr. Vladimir Yazdovsky wrote, "I wanted to do something nice for her: She had so little time left to live." Atleast she got to feel love once.

  • We remember and salute you, brave and sad little dog LAIKA. But let us remember that there are animals abandoned and mistreated worldwide RIGHT NOW, TODAY, who could have happy lives if we all offered them our kindness and help. So ... let's adore LAIKA, and honour her sad heroic sacrifice by remembering to help innocent animals STILL ALIVE and NEEDING OUR LOVE and HELP.

  • BTW her real name given to her was KUDRYAVKA.. Laika was her given nickname from her trainer Oleg Gazenko

  • A TRUE PIONEER and will NEVER be forgotten....

  • She should be remembered as the first Living Female mammal In space. She Got a Screw Job back then...But now we are wiser and we all give her her well earned due credit. She is a hero. Not only should she be in Russia today but on this whole earth. She deserves all our respect for her extreme sacrifice!!! I Can tell you as a dog lover will never forget her!

  • AGREED

  • Laika Is A STAR!!!!

  • instantly muted.

  • Every country should have a postage stamp bearing Laika's picture.

  • @nataliemichellewsc

I learned from a documentary that Sergey Korolev (the scientist who oversaw the mission) was in fact deeply attached to those dogs and loved them to death.

  • @nkoundouroglou You are 23 years old. This happened 30 years before you were even conceived. Do you think society was really taking notice of animal rights or vegetarians? No. No, they were not. This was a turning point in science. Laika should be celebrated, not mourned.
