  • Hard to believe that Brenda Lee and Elvis were put in Country Music Hall of Fame before Carl Smith and Webb Pierce. Figure that one out.

  • For what it is worth, I consider Carl Smith to be an icon in country music. Although some folks might question his motives, his early "retirement" deprived us all of what might have proven to be a peerless career. His LP, "Sunday Down South," with the Carter Sister and Momma Maybelle, may well be the best gospel collection ever produced. Regrettably, his full repertoire of recordings does not seem to be readily available. Doc Woody, Troubadour
