The Super Overdrive is great as it is. No need for a mod.

why have a mod of the sd-1. Just buy a fuzz, like a big muff.

The factory overdrive's tone was more consistent. You could easily push the envelope by adding another pedal. Maybe the Boss graphic equalizer, or my favorite, the Hyper Fuzz.
