READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST!!!!

This is the tutorial for the Generation 1 Xmod and a how-to on swapping out the board. It is very basic, and provides a huge boost in performance for an xmod.

However there are somethings to note about this mod. It is body specific, and if you watch the whole thing, some bodies that do not fit with the board mounted perpendicular to the chassis are:
-NSX
-350z
-370z
-Skyline
-Corvette

BUT in a later update, I will move the board in a different position so that it will fit more bodies.

Materials list:
-Team Losi 2Ch remote from Micro-T/ Micro Baja
-Team Losi ESC/Receiver from Micro-T/ Micro Baja
-Team Losi Servo from Micro-T/ Micro Baja
-Generation 1 Xmods chassis with all wheel drive
-Side Cutters
-Wire Strippers
-15 watt soldering iron with rosin core silver bearing solder (0.022 diameter)
-Heat shrink (optional)
-18 gauge and 20 gauge copper wire
-130 size motor (Xmods or Mini-z sized motor)
-Crystal Set (Xmods, Mini-Z or Micro-T all work)
-Xmods Rear top deck
-3M double sided foam tape OR 3M double sided outdoor tape(stronger and more permanent)

Estimates for how much the Team Losi parts cost:

Team Losi Controller $15~$40
Team Losi Micro-T board $25~38
Team Losi Micro-T servo $8~12

Estimated total cost for all parts for the mod are from $35~60 to do the mod, and its worth it!!

The first time I did this, I got lucky and got all the stuff used for about $35 shipped off eBay. This time, only my controller was used, for $15 and the rest cost about $40, so it was $55 for me to mod the Gen 1.

You can search google to find TONS of stores that sell this stuff online, and on eBay. I suggest finding used remotes because they seem to be "inflated" in price and people charge too much for them new, when they should be only about $20 new.

Good luck finding parts!! Thank you for watching and happy drifting!!!

This will be updated later with a written tutorial on www.xmodsforum.co.uk later on.

  • have you ever tried using a 3wires hoddy grade servo on a stock gen 1 ? just want to know if is doable, thanks

  • @wtf000000000000 Yup I have! I tried the HS-55 servo, and it was NOT very good for Gen 1. It turned too slow, the Gen 1 servo might not turn far, but it the motor inside turned much quicker than the HS-55 servo. I don't know what I'd recommend besides a tight turn mod for Gen 1. The servo is actually pretty good already, just needs help from tight turns to be great :D

  • @0WhiteCharisma0 thanks, good to know. cuz i was planning to replace the stock servo with some servo that Hobby King sells for cheap. So other than tight turn mod(i don't want to solder thingsXD), will running 2s 7.4v lipo give me 'tight turn' ?

  • @wtf000000000000 no it won't, adding more power doesn't add more power the the turning, it'll actually make it more jittery because it has more volts running through it. It has to do with the resistors on the part of the board that controls the servo.

  • Nice tutorial... the two-piece horn looks like a servo saver.

  • @Darwinpasta lol yeah I remembered what it was called after I was done. Thanks!!

  • do you have any drifting xmods for sale

  • @0WhiteCharisma0 oh really, really good information to know , thanks

  • @crashcar5523 You can find a lot of them on eBay for reasonable prices. Try finding nitrorchobbies on eBay. In my update video to this tutorial, they sent me one for about $33 shipped and it came really fast!! I definitely recommend buying from them on eBay.

  • @0WhiteCharisma0 allright i have a extra chassis anyway so i might end up doing this, where do you generally buy these?
