Is Cerf's wife the one on the left?
-
John Charles Daly's wife was the daughter of Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren...and yes, he was on the show.
-
@MrCallipygous Phyllis was quite a woman...she was as involved with Bennett's work at Random House as much as a spouse could be in those days. One of his authors, Truman Capote, said of Phyllis "If she was against you, it was best to get a passport and leave the country"
-
@VanAllesWat33 At some point she likely died...
-
Mrs Cerf was kind of cute :)
-
Did John Daly say Mrs. Cerf's first name by accident just as the ladies were sitting down? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There were many bad things about the '50s but "What's My Line" certainly wasn't one of them.

@cdgrnr it was an accident miss francis was notoriously accident prone once she wore her arm in a sling
-
a victorian would look at cerf's wife kicking up her heel for his kiss with a sense of scandal; we see it as the innocent sophistication of a bygone era.

@chilvari John Daly is my favourite part of the show! (I mentioned this on another video and the uploader banned me from commenting!)
Is one of you creatures married to me?

he was referring to his wife (husband/wife banter most likely), i don't think he meant it to be sexist in anyway..
