What to look for in a "near zero latency" sound card. When using software synthisizers, you get a huge delay when you play the keyboard unless you use a souncard capable of near zero latency.

  • Hi Dwight,

I'm looking forward to buying a good preamp for recording clean vocals. I have a presonus tube pre and that's pretty good for rock vocals but I want something to record clean vocals without distortion. My emu 1616m preamps are messed up. I tried Centrance micport pro and the sound quality is amazing but I got constant dropouts on the audio. Do you have any recommendations? I want something that's zero latency but has the quality similar to micport pro.

    Thanks

  • @aldada13

Sorry I don't have any recomendations.

I am happy with the vocal quality I am getting from an M-Audio interface and an APEX large diaphragm mic.

But I understand a high quality interface makes a big difference.

Hope someone else can comment on this one

    Good luck

  • @dustypuppy thanks for the reply. How is the noise on the m-audio preamps, is it ok when you crank up the gain?

  • @aldada13

I have found the delta 1010 to be very quiet. I have never had any noise at all.

With a good quality mic, the clarity of playback is unbelievable.

Still I admit, I have never used the more expensive audio interfaces - there must be a difference.

    good luck

  • I get 1 to 4ms latency using ASIO drivers with my Creative Labs X-Fi sound card, it just has to be in audio creation mode. The best thing is the cards are so cheap, Im still running a DuoCore 2Ghz system, and its flawless.

Excellent - thanks for this info :)

I cannot find any info to tell me that model will give near zero latency. I read about the "FPT" but I don't think thats the same thing. Some of the more expensive models will work but I am just not sure about this one - sorry

  • do you recommend Cakewalk UM-2G 2x2 USB MIDI Interface for 0 latency?

  • @wildskel1
