  • @EmperorKupcake I couldn't disagree more. It is BECAUSE things have been done one way that we do them differently. To just keep doing what we've always done is the quickest way to kill music. I like this cadenza. And Miles Davis would absolutely hate you :)

  • I'm almost certain he was improvising as many artists of the day did. He must have been in his early to mid 30s when he played that performance. Really fun to listen to.

  • Beautiful technique and sound, there's not doubting he's a master. I must bring into question the style and length of his cadenza, however. Taking historical practices into consideration, this cadenza is more drawn out than most operatic cadenzas of the Classical Era and has less uniformity and shape. There's nothing wrong with new interpretations, but I still think we should honor historical styles.

  • El mejor, la técnica y la musicalidad llevadas al extremo.

  • Always the best!!! Nobody plays like Maurice..........

  • Wow...great articulation....great sound, has great range...every note in tune!

  • Special thanks to all the You tube posters who post some really outstanding musicians. I have heard of Maurice Andre in converations but never heard his playing until today. Thanks again, I have found a new perspective on mastery of your instrument from your post. Maurice Andre is oficially added to my pantheon of Brass Gods.

  • I just looked it up, and I'm surprised (and delighted) to learn that he's still alive!

  • Andre's the gold standard for classical trumpet...the only pity is we don't get to hear the rest of the concerto. Thanks for the great upload.
