North Bend - Moon Valley Road - January 8th 2009 Landslide Cuts off Moon Valley area

Early this am, betwen 1 and 4 AM, the "dry wash" drainage culvert along Moon Valley Rd washed out, the drain filling first with rock...then the water washed 100's of tons of rock and soil down over the road along a 100 yard path.

Now...the water is undercutting the road, threatening to wash away the entire blacktop and roadbed. King County has been notified that 30 families including some elderly folks are now trapped here in the Moon Valley subdivision.

We had a neighbor with a backhoe clear most of the debris...and managed to build up some rock berms to divert the water for the time being so it does not take out the road...so it's looking like we might be able to get to town sometime later today.

wow, hope you guys get help soon. Half the roads out are closed too down here in Fall City.
