Natalie Dessay
May 15, 2011
Carnegie Hall: Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Encore: Il faut partir (Donizetti: La Fille du Regiment)
Fabio Luisi, The MET Orchestra
Luisi was filling in last minute for James Levine who had to cancel due to health reasons -- this explains the early cue for the orchestra at the end of the aria
this is very beautiful. dessay usually doesn't sing it this well. i'm so sad now that i missed the broadcast of this. :( maybe it was just the sentiment of the aria.

I saw her recently at the Barbican in London and she was in amazing form, vocally. Her Lucia in Moscow was magnificent also. Her voice seems to have found a second youth and it sounds fresh and young, though much bigger and rounder than before. Can't wait to see her in the four roles in Hoffman! Many thanks for posting this lovely "il faut partir"!!

@luvxl she sang this yesteday, it was broadcasted on Sirius Met Opera Radio. The program included vocalises from Ravel, an aria from Lakmé (not the bell song), the aria from Manon (je marche sur tout les chemins) and she encored this...

Very good considering her vocal condition - I wonder who wrote her Ornaments they are brilliant, somehow remind me of Gagnon's for Sills but they are not his. Fantastic ornaments anyhow
