Overgrown trees and brush under power lines create a dangerous situation that can cause a power outage and put public safety at risk. But recent tree cutting at Spongs Landing County Park near Salem, Oregon, evolved into something more than safety as Marion County's Juvenile Alternative Program collected the wood for its firewood program which supports low-income and disabled county residents and teaches the juveniles accountability.
