A VHS video about passenger trains in Ireland. Unfortunately, I had massive problems converting it: The sound track didn´t match with the video track. So there is more Irish folk music than GM diesel sound ... sorry!

Züge in Irland im Mai 2004 in belfast, ballina, mallow, bray (bei Dublin).

I'll be visiting Ireland in April, and be taking the train to Cork, Galway, (maybe to Sligo or Westport) and to the Giant Causway. I really wanted to go to Donegal, but no train service, darn.

but there is a train museum at Donegal in the old station.

And you should go to Cultra in Northern Ireland where the transport museum is. Very interesting!

Why can't we get through just one single day without invoking "The fields of Athenry"? Whether we're out for a pint, marking a national holiday, celebrating our accomplishments, staging a football match, and now, even making a video about our railways, yep, it's Athen-f*%@#n'-ry all bloody night long. The rest of the world, in order to be PC, pretends to like it too. It first came out in the '70s (a Paddy Reilly hit); it was a whiney, self-pitying dirge even back then. Pass the flamethrower :(

Actually, I did it without intention... Just haopended by chance! As I said in the description, I just had to cover the original noise.

Only one 141 Class (Small GM) remains in service. All of the 071 Class are now performing menial duties and freight duties. Only the Dublin - Cork/ Dublin - Belfast services are still locomotive hauled. Other InterCity services are in the hands of 22000 Class railcars. Commuter services are in the hands of the 2600, 2700 (2 sets withdrawn), 2800 and 29000 Class railcars. Some 2600 and 2700 Class have been repainted into ICR livery. Only Four freight flows (2 Liners, Timber & Zinc/Ore) remain.
