The Gift of Dance; From the African Diaspora is a short documentary, chronicling the evolution of West African Dance from the urban streets of Dakar and Conakry thru the national companies of Ballet du Senegal & Ballet Africains to the dance studios in America and eventually Hollywood. The documentary discusses the correlation between African dance and other genres including ballet, hip hop, modern and jazz. It features clips from musicians like Beyonce, Kanye West, Akon, Wyclef, Gnarls Barkley, Beenie Man, Sean Paul, K'Naan and others who have incorporated African dance elements into their artistry and music videos.
