Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Air Force Unit

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected Air Force Unit 1016 of the KPA.

He was greeted on the spot by Col. General of the KPA Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the air force of the KPA, and other general officers and commanding officers of the unit.

After acquainting himself with its performance of duty, he looked round halls for flight training and watched airmen under training.

He set forth tasks to be fulfilled to boost the combat capability of the unit in every way, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that the unit is steadily raising the level of technical skill of its airmen after successfully building training facilities by its own efforts and performing its guard duty in a responsible manner with a high degree of vigilance to cope with the enemies' moves for aggression.

He learned about how the political work is conducted among its servicepersons, going round a soldiers' hall, education room and other cultural and educational facilities.

He got familiar in detail with how various kinds of visual aid materials and CDs are used to suit the peculiarities of servicepersons and praised the unit for conducting ideological and educational work in diverse forms and by various methods and in a unique manner, underscoring the need to pay primary attention to the ideological work to prepare all of them as human bombs and self-blasting heroes of Ri Su Bok and Kil Yong Jo type.

Noting that the appearance of soldiers is one of the important criteria proving the dignity, spirit and discipline of a regular army, he said that the revolutionary army of the DPRK, a highly disciplined regular army, should set an example in dressing and appearance.

He took warm care of the servicepersons' living with fatherly love, going round a bedroom, mess hall, kitchen and supply service facilities.

All units of the KPA have brought about a radical change in their appearance by concentrating efforts on boosting their combat capabilities and management, he said, adding that this signal change is the shining fruition of a high degree of revolutionary character, militancy and sense of organization and discipline peculiar to the KPA.

He had a photo session with servicepersons of the unit.

He was accompanied by Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su and commanding officers of the KPA.
